Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
