The Details Known About the Those Lost of the Bondi Terror Attack
A minimum of 16 lives lost their lives and more than 40 were hurt when assailants shot at a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, authorities have stated the death toll is 16, which includes one of the suspected attackers. Moreover, 42 wounded individuals were taken to the hospital.

Eli Schlanger
London-born rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first to be publicly identified.
Known as a father-of-five, he served as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and friends described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a family member asked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, according to his wife.
She described the moments leading up to the attack, explaining they had been standing together when the gunfire erupted. “He pushed his body up because he wanted to stay near me,” she recalled.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having faced unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
French foreign ministry have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
In a statement, a senior official declared that France stood with his family and loved ones, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must eradicate,” the message read.
One Child
A child who was taken to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was also killed during the attack, as per multiple sources referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
From the 42 people taken to hospital, many are still receiving treatment, with a number in a critical state. The injured include two police officers who responded to the attack.
A wounded man is a bystander who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Hailed as a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was hurt and underwent treatment in hospital.
Communicating, he described the incident as an “horrific scene,” but also praised the response of those who came to assist. He stated he felt it was a “stroke of luck” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the attack. He told reporters he listened to “a large number” of shots.
“Initially, I believed it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I sustained a gunshot wound. They bandaged me up. I’m ok.”
